🌀 Second Conditional

👉 ¿Para qué se usa?

Se usa para hablar de situaciones irreales o imaginarias en el presente o futuro.
También sirve para dar consejos indirectos o expresar deseos.

🔧 ESTRUCTURA:

If + pasado simple, would + verbo base

Aunque usamos «pasado», no estamos hablando del pasado real, sino de una situación hipotética en el presente.

✅ EJEMPLOS EXPLICADOS:

1. If I had a million dollars, I would travel the world.
   (Si tuviera un millón de dólares, viajaría por el mundo.)
   🔍 No tengo ese dinero; es un sueño.
2. If she were taller, she would play basketball.
   (Si ella fuera más alta, jugaría baloncesto.)
   🔍 Ella no es alta; es una situación irreal.
3. If we didn’t have school, we would go to the beach.
   (Si no tuviéramos colegio, iríamos a la playa.)
4. If I were you, I would talk to him.
   (Si yo fuera tú, hablaría con él.)
   🔍 Consejo indirecto.
5. They would help us if they knew the problem.
   (Nos ayudarían si supieran el problema.)

❗ EXCEPCIÓN GRAMATICAL:

En inglés formal y académico, se usa «were» para todas las personas:

• ✅ If I were rich, not If I was rich
  (ambas son comunes, pero «were» es más correcto en este caso)

🔁 CONTRASTES Y NEGACIONES

• If I didn’t like it, I wouldn’t eat it.
  (Si no me gustara, no lo comería.)
• Would she come if you invited her?
  (¿Vendría si la invitaras?)

🌪️ Third Conditional

👉 ¿Para qué se usa?

Para hablar de cosas que no pasaron en el pasado, pero imaginamos un resultado diferente.
Se usa mucho para expresar arrepentimiento, reproches o reflexiones.

🔧 ESTRUCTURA:

If + pasado perfecto, would have + participio pasado

Usa el pasado perfecto (had + participio) en la condición, y “would have” en la consecuencia.

✅ EJEMPLOS EXPLICADOS:

1. If I had studied more, I would have passed the exam.
   (Si hubiera estudiado más, habría pasado el examen.)
   🔍 No estudié → no pasé.
2. If they had arrived earlier, they wouldn’t have missed the bus.
   (Si hubieran llegado antes, no habrían perdido el bus.)
3. If we had brought jackets, we wouldn’t have been cold.
   (Si hubiéramos traído chaquetas, no habríamos tenido frío.)
4. She would have won if she had trained harder.
   (Habría ganado si hubiera entrenado más.)
5. If I had known, I would have helped you.
   (Si lo hubiera sabido, te habría ayudado.)

🔁 CONTRASTES Y NEGACIONES

• He wouldn’t have failed if he had listened.
  (No habría fallado si hubiera escuchado.)
• Would you have gone if I had invited you?
  (¿Habrías ido si te hubiera invitado?)

🧠 CLAVES DEL THIRD CONDITIONAL:

📌 COMPARACIÓN GENERAL DE LOS 4 CONDICIONALES

🧩 ¿Cómo se relacionan con lo ya aprendido?

• Participios pasados → usados en Third Conditional.
• «Would» es un verbo modal.
• «If» puede aparecer al inicio o en medio:
  👉 We would win if we tried.
  👉 If we tried, we would win.

🎓 FRASES APLICADAS

1. If I hadn’t forgotten my umbrella, I wouldn’t have gotten wet. (3rd Conditional)
2. If I were taller, I’d join the basketball team. (2nd Conditional)
3. Would she have accepted if you had asked her? (3rd + pregunta)
4. He wouldn’t be tired if he slept more. (2nd + negación)
5. If we had taken the train, we would have arrived earlier. (3rd + comparación)

🔍 PROFUNDIZAMOS EN EL SECOND CONDITIONAL

🧩 Con adverbios de grado o cantidad:

1. If I were just a little taller, I would reach the shelf.
   (Si fuera solo un poco más alto, alcanzaría el estante.)
2. If she studied more, she would probably get better results.
   (Si estudiara más, probablemente tendría mejores resultados.)

🧩 Con voz pasiva:

3. If the roads were cleaned regularly, fewer accidents would happen.
   (Si las carreteras se limpiaran regularmente, ocurrirían menos accidentes.)
4. The food would be wasted if it weren’t stored correctly.
   (La comida se desperdiciaría si no se almacenara correctamente.)

🧩 Con modales y consejos indirectos:

5. If I were you, I should speak to the teacher.
   (Si yo fuera tú, debería hablar con el profesor.)
6. If they had more time, they could help us.
   (Si tuvieran más tiempo, podrían ayudarnos.)

🧩 Con cláusulas relativas:

7. If the boy who studies hard failed, I would be very surprised.
   (Si el chico que estudia mucho fallara, estaría muy sorprendido.)

🌪️ PROFUNDIZAMOS EN EL THIRD CONDITIONAL

🧩 Con adverbios de modo y grado:

1. If he had driven more carefully, the accident wouldn’t have happened.
   (Si hubiera manejado con más cuidado, no habría pasado el accidente.)
2. If I had studied harder, I would have easily passed the exam.
   (Si hubiera estudiado más, habría aprobado fácilmente el examen.)

🧩 Con voz pasiva:

3. If the letter had been sent on time, it would have been received yesterday.
   (Si la carta se hubiera enviado a tiempo, se habría recibido ayer.)
4. The building wouldn’t have been destroyed if the fire had been controlled.
   (El edificio no se habría destruido si se hubiera controlado el fuego.)

🧩 Con modales (should, could, might):

5. If you had told me, I could have helped you.
   (Si me hubieras contado, te habría podido ayudar.)
6. She should have studied if she wanted to pass.
   (Ella debió haber estudiado si quería pasar.)
7. They might have succeeded if they had tried harder.
   (Podrían haber tenido éxito si hubieran hecho más esfuerzo.)

🧩 Con there + be y estructuras complejas:

8. If there had been more time, the test would have been easier.
   (Si hubiera habido más tiempo, el examen habría sido más fácil.)
9. There would have been fewer problems if we had planned better.
   (Habría habido menos problemas si hubiéramos planeado mejor.)

🧩 Combinando condicionales y comparación:

10. If she had been as careful as her sister, she wouldn’t have broken the vase.
    (Si ella hubiera sido tan cuidadosa como su hermana, no habría roto el florero.)

💡 COMPARACIÓN DIDÁCTICA (situación real):

• Second Conditional: imaginas otro presente.
• Third Conditional: imaginas otro pasado.
• Puedes combinar voz pasiva, adverbios, modales, relativos, comparación, etc.
