SESIÓN 21 – Programa Remington

The Light Beyond the Shadows

Deep underground, some people lived in a cave. They had lived there for many years. They always sat in the same spot. They were looking at a terrible huge ancient rectangular black stone prison wall now. They could see only the wall.
A fire burned brightly behind them. The fire made shadows on the wall. The prisoners did not know the truth . They never turned around. They were not looking at real things . They thought the shadows were the real world.
One young man was named Elian. He was thinking deeply about the strange shapes. «Why do the shadows move like that?» he asked himself. «Who makes these noises?» he wondered silently. «What is behind us?».
Elian looked at his friend. «Are we blind?» he asked. «Do you hear the strange echoes?». His friend did not answer. «We shall escape today,» Elian whispered quietly. He knew he must find the real answers.
Suddenly, Elian’s chains broke. He stood up slowly. He had never walked before. He could feel his legs shaking violently. He was moving upwards toward a strange light.
The path was very steep. «I can do this,» he thought. «I might find a better place.» He walked bravely. He would reach the top soon . He should keep his eyes open.
Finally, Elian walked outside. He has discovered a beautiful huge new round green Earthly natural world. The sun was shining brilliantly . He had not seen anything so wonderful in his life.
He touched a tree gently. «How does this grow?» he asked. «Where does the light come from?». He had found the truth. The shadows inside the cave were only an illusion. The real things were here .
Yesterday , he was a prisoner. Today, he was a free man. But he remembered his friends downstairs. «Will they believe me?» he thought. «Can I help them?». He walked back into the dark cave carefully.
Elian talked to his friends excitedly . «The real world is outside!» he said. But the prisoners did not believe him . They were not listening . «You are crazy,» they said angrily . They would stay in the cave. They should leave, but they preferred the comfortable shadows.
Elian may stay for a little while, but he knows the truth. He has seen the pure light. He will go upwards again tomorrow . He understands that humanity must seek the truth constantly. The beautiful light shall guide him forever .

🛠️ Voz Pasiva (Passive Voice)

🧠 ¿Qué es la voz pasiva?

En la voz activa, el sujeto hace la acción.
👉 The chef cooks the food.
(El chef cocina la comida.)

En la voz pasiva, lo importante es el resultado o el objeto, no quién lo hizo:
👉 The food is cooked (by the chef).
(La comida es cocinada.)

📐 ESTRUCTURA GENERAL

Objeto + verbo BE (en tiempo correcto) + participio pasado

📌 Recuerda:

• El verbo BE cambia según el tiempo.
• El verbo principal va en participio pasado.
• Puedes incluir el agente (by…) o no.

1. Presente simple

📌 Many books are read by students every day.
(Muchos libros son leídos por los estudiantes cada día.)

2. Pasado simple + adverbio de frecuencia

📌 The dishes were always washed after dinner.
(Los platos siempre eran lavados después de la cena.)

3. Futuro simple + adverbio de modo

📌 The message will be delivered quickly.
(El mensaje será entregado rápidamente.)

4. Presente perfecto + comparativo de igualdad

📌 The floor has been cleaned as well as the windows.
(El piso ha sido limpiado tan bien como las ventanas.)

5. Pasado continuo + adverbio de grado

📌 A new road was being carefully built near my house.
(Una nueva carretera estaba siendo cuidadosamente construida cerca de mi casa.)

6. Con modal: should

📌 This problem should be solved immediately.
(Este problema debería ser resuelto inmediatamente.)

7. Con there + passive

📌 There was built a new school in the village.
(Fue construida una nueva escuela en el pueblo.)
📝 (formal; también se puede usar “A new school was built…”)

8. Presente simple + comparación

📌 The homework is corrected more quickly than before.
(La tarea es corregida más rápido que antes.)

9. Futuro + cantidad

📌 Too many trees will be cut down next year.
(Demasiados árboles serán talados el próximo año.)

10. Con modales y participios

📌 The answer must be written in pen.
(La respuesta debe ser escrita con bolígrafo.)

❌ FRASES NEGATIVAS EN PASIVA

1. The report is not finished yet.
2. The cookies were not eaten.
3. The letters haven’t been sent.
4. The room wasn’t cleaned properly.
5. The package won’t be delivered today.

❓ PREGUNTAS EN VOZ PASIVA

1. Is the house cleaned every day?
2. Was the car fixed yesterday?
3. Has the homework been done?
4. Will the cake be made by her?
5. Should this rule be followed?

🧠 CLAVES FINALES PARA LA VOZ PASIVA

• Siempre usa «be» + participio pasado.
• El verbo «be» se conjuga según el tiempo verbal.
• El participio pasado es la 3.ª forma del verbo:
  • go / went / gone
  • eat / ate / eaten
  • do / did / done
